The Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) National Team Engineering is actively seeking a Sr Principal Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL.

Job Summary:
As the Requirements Management Tools Administrator, you will establish and administer the DOORS process for developing, determining and managing requirements; access control; and configuration control for multiple users of Missile Defense System requirements as depicted in the IBM Rational DOORS database, and their connectivity to the system-level architecture/Use Cases maintained in the IBM Rational System Architect tool.


Additionally, you will adhere to the Program Configuration Management Plan for the DOORS and System Architect tools, enabling multiple users to share the Technical Baseline data, while maintaining strict access control and data integrity. Duties include:

Development or update of schema needed for multiple users
Configuration control and determination of requirement/architecture baseline products
Generation of reports / artifacts from the tool
Preparation of deliverables to customer
Managing user access, conducting user training, documenting/updating process as well as procedural guides & checklists
Supporting engineering design tasks; customizing the tool as needed, executing upgrades, and troubleshooting problems
Contributing to publishing change notices to the Missile Defense System specification and update of requirements databases, architectural models, interface definitions, and DoDAF 2+ compliant based design packages to document, allocate and trace BMD system and element level requirements.


Active Secret is required (Top Secret preferred). Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Qualifications:
10+ years technical background in using and maintaining complex system engineering tools and processes

Demonstrated Administrator knowledge and hands-on experience using the IBM Rational DOORS toolset; and working knowledge of UML-based system modeling.
Code manipulation using DXL, JavaScript, or VBA script usage within DOORS is required.

Current Secret Clearance is required.

Required Education (including Major):
Degree in an engineering classification (STEM), mathematics or physics; Bachelors of Science, Masters or PhD.


Desired Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience working within a complex system-of-systems requirements environment for missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.) or other complex Department of Defense programs.

IBM Rational System Architect tool or equivalent (No Magic Cameo).
SharePoint Developer experience using Java & HTML.
Able to think critically to develop and capture concepts in technical papers, presentations, and discussions
Systems engineering experience supporting large systems
Possess good communication skills
