Job Description

Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking a qualified individual to provide engineering expertise to a DoD customer in Huntsville, AL on programs related to the acquisition, development, testing and transition to sustainment of radar warning receiver (RWR) systems.

Education & Length of Experience

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Military Science and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Military Science and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Military Science and four (4) years of relevant full time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Principal Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Military Science and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Military Science and seven (7) years of relevant full time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 5-15 years of experience related to radar, RF threats and radar warning systems, depending on education level
  • Strong familiarity with RF, radar and/or electronic warfare and integration and test with rotary and fixed wing platforms
  • Project/task management, writing & presentation skills, documentation, report and proposal. Proven ability to lead reviews of delivered technical documents from prime contractors
  • Demonstrated critical analysis of defense systems to include providing technical RF support at design reviews and technical interchange meetings
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills and ability to interface effectively with engineers, managers, and civilian and military customers in a diverse team environment
  • Ability to work well individually or in a group setting
  • Ability to effectively present technical information and communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience participating in one or more radar or EW flight test programs for the US Department of Defense
  • Familiarity with currently fielded RWR systems, SiGe technology and manufacturing, FPGA architectures, and/or advanced emitter detection, ID, and tracking algorithms
  • Previous experience with RF threats and/or Intelligence Production Centers is a definite plus
  • Experience interfacing with US military test and training ranges and an understanding of their strengths and limitations
  • Strong familiarity and 8+ years of experience with modern radar systems and associated waveforms
  • Demonstrated ability to perform training and instruction on topics such as radar, electronic warfare, and relevant tactics
  • Familiarity with the DoD acquisition process
  • Experience with basic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes and multi-meters, and RF test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers and network analyzers
  • Experience working with radio frequency countermeasure (RFCM) systems
  • An active TOP SECRET clearance with SCI is preferred, but not required
