Job Description

The Sensors & Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking entry and junior level engineers/scientists who are interested in a career in sensors applied to air and missile defense applications. Throughout their careers, candidates will have exposure to and develop expertise in one or more of the following sensor elements: target tracking, multi-sensor data fusion, target discrimination, radar resource management, radar systems analysis, electronic protection, and radar signal processing. Initial work assignments will include measured and simulated data analysis, simulation development, creation and evaluation of signal and data processing algorithms, and system performance analysis. At GTRI, candidates have an excellent opportunity to grow both technically and to support program management and business development activities as their careers evolve.

Job Duties

  • Develop new and modify existing radar system simulations written in MATLAB
  • Work along aside Senior Researchers to assess and predict radar system performance
  • Work along aside Senior Researchers to develop innovative signal and data processing techniques
  • Document technical work in briefings and reports and have the opportunity to brief external customers
  • Support Senior Researchers in developing new programs by supporting white paper and proposal activities

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program relevant to this position will be considered. Candidate must have a graduation date of no later than May 2021
  • Candidates should have a fundamental understanding in two or more of the following subject areas:
    • Control theory,
    • Signal processing,
    • Random processes,
    • Fourier analysis, or
    • Parameter estimation.
  • Candidates must be excellent communicators and have a willingness to brief their work to outside organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to those holding a Masters or PhD degree in either electrical engineering, mathematics, or physics and having some experience with radar systems and signal processing either via academic course work or through current or previous employment
  • Candidates should be proficient in MATLAB, and software development experience, proficiency in C/C++, and proficiency in version control software such as GIT are a plus

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance
