A position is open for a R&D Laboratory Support Technologist in the Electrical Laboratory of the Primary Sandia Standards Lab (PSL) at Sandia National Laboratories. The PSL is an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory providing metrology support to the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This position requires technical aptitude and/or experience in metrology spanning a broad range of measurement areas, systems and equipment, methods, and procedures with the potential to have an immediate impact on the work at Sandia. The Electrical Lab primarily calibrates Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE) in support of the NNSA standards laboratories and Sandia line organizations.

The selected individual will perform calibrations of equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes and other related M&TE. Other responsibilities include providing support to improve processes and procedures in the Electrical Lab. The selected individual will also be expected to perform basic troubleshooting, customer support, and software support.

 

Department Description:

Department 9142 provides calibration support of Sandia customer assets and working standards used to identify product attributes and test system calibrations; including support of customer owned assets at the customer site and support for SNL research and production organizations. Department 9142 maintains a wide variety of measurement expertise and consults on technical problems, calibrates reference standards and assists in technical oversight of the DOE/NNSA Nuclear Weapons Complex contractor standards laboratories.

Requirements

Required:

  • Associate's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or similar field or PMEL (Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory) training or work experience

Desired:

  • Experience calibrating a variety of M&TE such as: multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and LCR meters
  • Computer programming experience
  • Experience working within a rigorous quality system such as ISO 17025, ISO 9001 or ANSI Z540.
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work with customers and work effectively in a very dynamic environment
  • Active security clearance
  • Ability to get a Q-clearance
  • Programming experience with Fluke’s Met/Cal software
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
