Job Description

Components Research (CR) delivers innovative device technologies and architectures to enable Intel's roadmap. Our job is to invent, to demonstrate, and to develop game-changing and revolutionary processing and packaging technologies to enable Intels process technology leadership. The Quantum Integration and Mask Design group within in CR, is looking for a PhD level engineer to design and integrate silicon spin qubits within Intel's advanced manufacturing Fabs.

About the job:

  • This job expects you to support both process integration and mask design for the quantum program.
  • You will learn how CMOS device fabrication applies to quantum device.
  • You must thrive in a research environment.
  • You will need to efficiently communicate and collaborate daily with other groups to determine and validate success criteria.
  • Independent design and follow-through of unique, enabling ideas is a key expectation from this role.

This is an entry level position and compensation will be given accordingly.

This position may involve work on a US Government Contract.  Applicants may be required to provide proof of citizenship in order to comply with US government requirements.  Any offer by Intel for this position is conditioned upon satisfying any proof of citizenship to meet US government requirements.


You must possess the below requirements to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum requirements:
Must be a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or Electrical Engineering.

6+ months experience with:

  • Device fabrication or device design
  • CMOS or quantum computing devices

Preferred qualifications:

  • Device fabrication experience in a leading edge CMOS fab
  • Device design or mask drawing in the Cadence/Virtuoso environment
  • 3 of more first author publications

Knowledge of the following technical areas would be considered a plus:

  • Quantum devices, specifically Si spin qubits
  • Advanced node CMOS integration
  • Interconnect routing
  • ESD mitigation design
  • RF circuit design
