Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) Quality and Mission Assurance (Q&MA) Functional Learning team executes strategies that enable Q&MA specific organizational priorities and capability growth needs, works with leaders throughout the Q&MA organization as well as collaborates with Learning and Development leaders throughout RMD and the enterprise.
Our team is currently seeking a Quality Engineer (Statistical Analyst) The statistical subject matter expert develops tools/training to raise the statistical IQ of the engineering population. Additionally, this person will provide on-call statistical consulting for factories and business decisions. This person must have good general quality engineering experience and a high level of experience consulting and applying statistical methods in an industrial setting.This position includes a major focus on data analytics and statistical consulting.
This position can be a Salary Grade G08 or Salary Grade G09 based on the candidates qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
Job Description:
Support the Learning and Talent Development team to create and maintain programs for professional education, certification, and mentorship
Predict quality of products and services and using empirical and theoretical statistical models
Perform analysis of nonconformities to characterize failure causes as routine or special cause. Develop containment and correction plan
Develop and maintain quality metrics to drive long-term improvement
Promote analysis methods as a way to make business decisions
Design and develop methods, processes and tools to consolidate and analyze large, internal data sets from multiple sources
Develop and examine modeling and measuring techniques using inquisitive creativity along with mathematics, statistical and engineering methods for predictive and prescriptive analytics
Provide technical expertise toward pre-determined long-range goals, plans the determination of which methods are appropriate in order to creatively explore, mine, analyze, and manipulate data sets
Interpret and communicate the analytic models and outcomes, including executive level summary analysis and presentations
Required Skills:
A minimum of four (4) years working in an industrial environment applying and developing statistical methodology
Previous experience in applied statistics including: Design of experiments, statistical process control, regression analysis
Previous responsibilities including:
Communicating analytical methods and metrics to non-technical audiences (customers, suppliers and in a team environment)
Applied data analytics
Experience with statistical software (EX: JMP/Minitab)
Experience with analytical software (R, Python)
Extract data across multiple source systems to consolidate information into a single source for consumption and/or distribution resulting in actionable communication as needed
Determine new ways to improve data and search quality, and predictive capabilities
Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets
Required Education:
BS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math Desired Skills:
Experience in root cause corrective action
Experience with six sigma and continuous improvement
Ability to work independently, network, and find meaningful opportunities to improve the business with applied statistics
Applied competency in general systems engineering and design principles
Highly skilled at data visualization and graphics (GGPlot/Matplotlib)
Highly skilled at developing data dashboards (Shiny/Tableau)
Desired Education: M.S. or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
Some travel may be required, estimated up to 10% of time with mostly domestic overnight stays for multiple days.
