Job Description

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Project/Program Manager (PM) to support the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Division (ISRD) of the Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL). The PM will support the management of multiple sponsored research projects. ISRD’s projects focus on advanced signal processing, adaptive sensor technologies, advanced algorithms, and modeling/simulation. Applications include radar, electronic warfare, Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) and Measurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT) systems.

The successful candidate will be able to provide project management support to a team of multi-disciplinary engineers and scientists to achieve project objectives and milestones. The candidate must be resourceful, take initiative, and be able to self-manage within set expectations. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are desired. Experience in management support of design, development and testing of complex systems is highly desired.

Responsibilities include program management support to the Principal Investigator/Project Director (PI/PD) through managing and forecasting cost; developing and tracking technical schedules; and identifying and reducing project risk. Additionally, the successful candidate is familiar with proposal writing for government sponsored research and development (R&D) and will be able to develop or contribute to the management portion of R&D proposals.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Science of Management, or related field.

Research Associate II

  • A Master’s degree in Business, Science of Management, or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Business, Science of Management, or related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Business, Science of Management, or related field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • This job requires a basic knowledge of standard documentation processes, engineering change management and associated system development tools.
  • Skills in data organization and analysis, problem solving, systems documentation and report writing as applied within assigned system(s) is required as are skills in cross communication between functional user and technical groups.
  • Must currently possess a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
