Project/Unit Description

GTRI is searching for a division leader to serve as Project Manager for the Communications, Command, and Control Division (C3D) of the Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL). C3D has approximately 33 full-time researchers operating on about $10M of sponsored research per year. The main focus of C3D is on the ideation, development, implementation, testing, and analysis of various technical challenges ranging from advanced all-domain battle management warfighting concepts to the challenges posed by the increasing lethality of the modern contested, degraded environments of a peer or near-peer adversary, as well as other asymmetric threats.

The candidate will be working on a sponsored research team assuring the PM requirements of the project(s) are being satisfied.

Job Purpose

Initiate, plan, monitor and control, and close projects to meet business or sponsor requirements. Required to progressively elaborate high-level information into detailed plans throughout the project life cycle. Project Managers manage the project, program or portfolio team to meet the project or sponsor objectives. Project Managers monitor and control the work of producing the products, services or results that the project was undertaken to produce. Success is measured by product and project quality, timeliness, budget compliance, and degree of customer satisfaction. Project Managers must meet all compliance and other regulatory requirements throughout a projects life cycle to successfully close out the time-bound project, program or portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create schedules based on sponsor or project requirements.
  • Provide financial reporting, maintain schedules, project budget and requirements for sponsor reporting.
  • Provide purchasing support and inventory management.
  • Interface with and learn how to work with support units for administrative tasking.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage divisional Business Development Capture Plan
  • Aggregate inputs, review and quality check Monthly Project Management Reviews (MSRPs) for divisional projects
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations
  • Monitor the project budget
  • Attend area seminars and other meetings as necessary
  • Attend project meetings
  • Summarize project results
  • Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations
  • Supervise undergraduate students working on the research project (maintaining records on assignment completion, acting as liaison/mediator between the undergraduate students and the faculty researcher)
  • Prepare progress reports for the PD/PI and funding agency

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree in STEM, Program Management, Business, Accounting, Finance, Psychology, or a related field of study

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • PMP Certifications
