Job Description

The Software Engineering and Analytics Division (SEAD) within the Information Communication Laboratory (ICL) is looking for a full-time Project Manager with 3+ years of experience to initiate, plan, monitor and control, and close projects to meet business or sponsor requirements. The role will support and run projects both internally-funded and sponsored projects within ICL, with the majority of their work (75%+) on sponsored-projects on the Army Family, CDC UARC, and ARAT projects. We are looking for candidates that are excited by working on a variety of problems always with an eye on sponsor value, performance, and accuracy. The projects are based out of the Coda building area in Atlanta on the Georgia Tech campus. Currently, the team is working remotely, but plan to return to the office eventually. Occasional travel may be required and is project dependent.

Job Duties:

  • Provide financial reporting, maintain schedules and requirements for sponsor reporting.
  • Provide purchasing support and inventory management.
  • Interface with and learn how to work with support units for administrative tasking.
  • Provide holistic project plans including documents detailing all aspects of a project from initiation to closeout.
  • Act as the project's primary interface with support units; Manage relationships to handle operations or administrative challenges.
  • Lead programmatic discussions and updates during team meetings and prioritize administrative needs for the technical lead.
  • Required to progressively elaborate high-level information into detailed plans throughout the project life cycle.
  • Manage the project, program or portfolio team to meet the project or sponsor objectives.
  • Monitor and control the work of producing the products, services or results that the project was undertaken to produce.
  • Success is measured by product and project quality, timeliness, budget compliance, and degree of customer satisfaction.
  • Meet all compliance and other regulatory requirements throughout a projects life cycle to successfully close out the time-bound project, program or portfolio.
  • Create schedules based on sponsor or project requirements.

Additionally, the job will involve:

  • Coordinate multiple lab resources, other project directors, division chiefs and other GTRI or GT support units.
  • Responsible for project operations and administrative tasks on multi-million dollar, complex projects and/or contract vehicles that may also have multiple subcontractors.
  • Manage operations and administrative functions in all phases of project life cycle (initiation to closeout).

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Associate II

  • A Masters degree in Business Administration or a professional degree in a related field (Finance/Accounting) is required and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Business Administration or a professional degree in a related field (Finance/Accounting) is required. and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Business Administration or a professional degree in a related field (Finance/Accounting) is required..

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters in business management or related professional degree (Finance/Accounting).
  • Prior/current financial budget management experience for multiple-sized programs.
  • Experience with FAR, DOD, Federal, and State-based budgets.
  • Prior/current project management experience.

The ideal candidate will possess / be willing to learn:

  1.  Project management with multiple, concurrent workstreams and deadlines
  2.  Detailed project management, including budget management and tracking towards defined technical deliverables
  3.  Experience working with a team to develop relationships leading to collaborative, contracted work aligned with vision and revenue goals
  4.  Ability to co-develop and maintain scopes of work, requirements, and budgets for projects
  5.  Experience writing and managing team writing of project plans, project proposals and quotes and professional quarterly and/or final project reports
  6.  Excellent oral and written presentation skills
  7.  Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  8.  Strong written, verbal and presentation skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are necessary.

  •  Expertise with industry best practices and standards

  • Experience with DOD programs
  •  Familiarity with requirements management processes
  •  Experience with Workday
