Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to help lead a $250M, 5-year research partnership between industry, government, and academia. With 30 U.S. universities and over 1,100 scientists and engineers out of academia and industry, the initiative is dedicated to creating a smart, autonomous, safe, connected, efficient, and affordable future via focused, long-term research in advanced computing that goes well beyond the traditional scaling paradigm.

The Program Manager will assist the Executive Director, with PM responsibilities that include but not limited to: reviewing and managing intellectual property disclosures, highlighting technical advances across the program, working with industrial/government partners and liaisons to maximize the value of their time and investments, working with Principal Investigators (PIs) and liaisons to help identify technology transfer opportunities, assessing and continuously improving member satisfaction, and reinforcing the value and importance of the research initiative to industrial, government, and academic stakeholders.

In this role you will be at the forefront of cutting edge, next generation advanced computing and communications technology, solutions, devices and more. This role requires a unique mix of skills and talents across a broad scope of research program management, technical leadership, business/entrepreneurship acumen, relationship building and engagement, promoting and influencing value propositions, keen eye for long term vision, and impacting the future of up and coming industry professionals.

This position requires the individual to be located in or near the Raleigh/Durham area and to be onsite at our Durham/RTP office. Non-local candidates will be considered, affirming relocation is required and SRC will provide relocation assistance.


Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge in systems, software, and algorithms for advanced information and communications technologies.
  • Personal contributions and/or accomplishments to the design and implementation of successful products based on machine learning, graph computing, neuromorphic systems or advanced memory and storage systems or modern hardware for artificial intelligence (AI), end-to-end communications, sensing, or actuation.
  • Experience directing innovative academic research, preferably in the United States, with clear evidence of technology transfer from academia into industry.
  • Proven record of overseeing and leading projects or programs inclusive of steering cross functional teams and interdependencies.
  • Excellent oral and written skills with a proven ability to create compelling arguments that moves partners / customers. Adept at presenting and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate, engage and motivate other SRC employees to contribute towards the goals of the team and the company.
  • Ambitious, organized, results-oriented, and thinks with anticipation.

  • Minimum of an MS in CS, CE, ECE, or similar disciplines with 7+ years of progressive experience.

 Preferred Experience & Education

  • Experience working with US Government agencies.
  • Experience with R&D that emphasizes human computer interactions.
  • Startup experience.
  • 3+ years programming in Python, Java, C++, R, or Matlab or big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Pig, Hive, and Cloud.
  • 3+ years’ experience in the use of GPUs, TPUs, FPGAs, or Deep Neural Networks applied to complex computing problems.
  • PhD in CS, CE, ECE, or similar disciplines with 10+ years of experience.
