Reporting to the Director of Professional Development Programs, the program director will develop and deliver short courses and certificates in the specialty of electrical and power engineering.

With nationally recognized online degree programs, short courses, certificate programs and more, UW Madisons Interdisciplinary Professional Programs continues to be a pioneer in continuing education. Founded in 1949, we help students learn the technical skills they need to do their jobs better and empower them with confidence and motivation to take their careers to the next level.


5 years experience in a technical or engineering management role responsible for leading electric power system projects required. The applicant must have professional knowledge of and experience with the latest industry practices of electrical engineering, power engineering, and electric power systems.

Candidates with demonstrated skills in the following areas preferred:
planning, designing, implementing, or managing electric power system projects

1-2 years experience in designing, implementing, and providing training for practicing professionals preferred. Candidates with demonstrated teaching experience, expertise in adult learning techniques, and a commitment to teaching adult learners preferred.

Experience with online learning tools and software, such as Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and/or Webex preferred.

Program directors must be self-disciplined, motivated, and able to work independently with limited oversight.
