About the School of Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering (EMI)

We encompass the Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering Departments, recognising that engineered systems of present and future significance increasingly have connections to all three.

We are the oldest engineering school in Australia – initially founded in 1861 – and have evolved into a vibrant community of internationally recognised researchers focused on addressing major challenges of today and into the future.

The Opportunity

You will be expected to play a leading role in fostering a research program in Radar Systems and Remote Sensing in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. You will also be expected to strengthen relationships with other relevant University groups, and external research organisations and industry partners.

You will develop low TRL capability in these areas leading to system demonstrators and prototypes that will demonstrate critical capabilities to industry and government. You will maintain a strong international outlook and help establish an internationally leading capability in radar research.

You will be expected to provide leadership in research, strategic planning, project development and planning, project management, and supervise research staff and postgraduate students.  You will also be expected to maintain a teaching load as agreed with the Head of Department.

  • An excellent track record of contributing to the discipline through peer reviewed journals of high international standing
  • Demonstrated excellence in providing high quality academic leadership in research, development of teaching programs, leading interdisciplinary teams and effectively managing research staff and students
  • A strong record of successful interaction with (and funding support from) industry, government organisations and national competitive grant schemes;
  • Drive, energy and vision to build and lead a world-class research program
