Job Title: Product Manager – Distribution Network Automation
Location: Washington - Pullman

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a Product Manager who has a unique blend of business, marketing, and technical savvy. Successful candidates have experience with competitive strategy and defining product and solution roadmaps with excellent writing, and presentation skills and enjoy technical writing. If you are an engineer with demonstrated experience in electric power systems and are interested in applying your skills to promote, support, and develop distribution control products and solutions that serve the electric power industry, we invite you to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Understand opportunities and customer requirements for Distribution Network Automation (DNA) product and solution portfolios in the electric utility market.
  • Identify opportunities, and translate opportunities into product requirements.
  • Execute product and solution launches. This includes pricing, positioning, forecasting, competitive market research/analysis, and development of sales collateral and promotional content.
  • Closely work with the sales team and distribution utility customers to turn products in to solutions that provide value.
  • Plan, organize and conduct customer visits, seminars and training.; develop product demonstrations; travel and attend events to promote SEL solutions.
  • Author and present papers on advancements in distribution power systems with SEL DNA technology at industry technical meetings and conferences.
  • Train the sales force on the benefits of SEL solutions and visit customers with them.
  • Advance product management by continuously identifying, measuring, and improving well-defined processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in EE or CS
  • Working knowledge of electric power systems: Distribution Operations, Recloser Controls, Capacitor Bank Controls, Load Tap Changer Controls, Voltage Regulator Controls and Operations software
  • Working knowledge of solutions like Volt/Var control, FLISR and Conservation Voltage Reduction that improve distribution reliability and distribution automation
  • Technical marketing experience
  • Experience in developing business strategies
  • Excellent technical and marketing presentation and writing skills
  • Knowledge of product life cycle planning and market positioning
  • Willing to travel 25%
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  • Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SCADA systems
  • MBA
