Job Description
The
Product Development Technician will be responsible for the manufacture, fabrication, and installation of manufacturing and developmental hardware for electro-mechanical systems, units, control devices, trailers and associated equipment. Candidate must be able determine methods, sequence of operations, lay out, fabricate, assemble, test, troubleshoot, self-inspect, and perform repairs on developmental and production electronics of control devices, units, sub-systems, systems and associated equipment.

Typical job duties and responsibilities:
  • Works from preliminary design drawings, sketches, and schematics as well as oral and written instructions.
  • Determines sequence of operations to fabricate, assemble, and troubleshoot electro-mechanical manufacturing and development systems, sub-systems, units, control devices and associated test equipment as specified by Manufacturing Engineers and Responsible Engineering Authorities.
  • Fabricates, assembles, troubleshoots, and tests cables to include cable splicing and connector attachment for all types of cables using both hand and automated tooling.
  • Sets up operates a variety of standard and specialized opto-electronic test equipment in conducting test to determine the quality of electro-mechanical equipment or multiple banks of inter-related electro-mechanical equipment. Diagnoses the cause of malfunctions and makes necessary adjustments.
  • May use hand and power tools and equipment as necessary in order to perform above duties
  • Performs rework and repair of the same nature and level of difficulty as described.
  • Performs incidental related duties as assigned.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Required Skills and Education:
  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication or similar discipline which could include military experience.
  • Knowledge of general manufacturing processes.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Understanding of basic electronic and/or Electro-Mechanical theory.

Desired Skills and Education:
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain J-STD Soldering Cert.
  • Knowledge in the use of o-scopes, network analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Experience with high-voltage pulsed power systems and ability to work safely around high voltage
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting vacuum systems
  • Experience reading mechanical drawings and electric schematics
  • Experience with communication systems and interconnect (fiber optic cables, coax, Ethernet)
  • Ability to operate and/or troubleshoot support equipment such as; compressors, HVAC, vacuum pumps and chillers
  • Ability to provide hands on technical support during research and development phases through demonstration tests
  • Ability to work with large and small teams, depending on circumstances
  • Ability to work with lifting fixtures and forklifts
  • Ability to work with hand tools such as drills, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, etc.

This position requires the ability to obtain and hold a DoD secret security clearance.

This position requires the successful issuance, transfer or maintenance of any clearances and/or accesses necessary for the position. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
