Looking for an opportunity to be at the forefront of process, device, and interconnect innovations?

Join us in the Advanced Process Integration Team at Components Research, Intel. We are looking for highly talented and motivated individuals to drive disruptive and game-changing semiconductor technology innovations for Intel's future products. Engineers in this role will lead research and development to integrate novel materials with innovative semiconductor processes and enable new device and interconnect architectures for improved power, performance, area, and cost scaling. This entry level Sr. Research Engineer role will require collaboration across multidisciplinary teams in defining goals, developing the vision and value proposition, aligning strategy, and driving fast paced research and development to meet timelines.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Leverage device physics theory, materials, chemistry, and process innovations to drive research on novel devices and interconnects.
  • Solve device and interconnect scaling challenges and circuit-process technology interactions for future technology nodes.
  • Use hands-on approach to plan, setup, and execute experiments in both 300mm Fabs and coupon line facilities inside and outside Intel.
  • Work collaboratively with device, module, reliability, analytical labs (SIMs, TEM, XPS, Raman, TXRF, etc...) and TCAD across fabrication sites to drive experiments.
  • Use understanding of device physics to quantify and benchmark experimental results with best known methods, literature/academia, and best in class.
  • Actively mentor of external research in academia and industry consortia to help fill Intel's internal research pipeline.


You must possess the below requirements to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below could be obtained through a combination of education/research, post-doctoral appointment, or other work experience including internships.

Minimum Requirements:
The candidate must possess a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related discipline. Must have the required degree or expect the required degree by August 2022.

6+ months of experience in below areas:

  • Experimental work on semiconductor processing, semiconductor devices and circuits, or device physics.
  • High level knowledge of semiconductor processes (Thin Films, Diffusion, Planar, Implant, Lithography, Etch, and/or Metrology)

Preferred Requirements:

  • 1+ year(s) of hands-on experience in semiconductor fabrication process including working knowledge of the enabling modules.
  • Proficiency in design of experiment, statistical analysis methods and analysis software.
  • Experience in working with a multidisciplinary team to solve highly complex technical problems is highly desired.
  • Advanced research on future transistor architectures, device physics, and/or CMOS process integration.
