Whole Life Engineering is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems early in their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer and end user.
As a Principal Technical Writer, youll regularly interact with Program and Functional leadership on strategy, status, and direction. In addition, you will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Safety, and Intelligence, Information and Services teams to apply disciplined program management processes and utilize tools to establish and monitor metrics and trends to ensure excellence in execution.
Responsibilities will include:
Providing technical and programmatic oversight to a subcontractor or remote Raytheon business partner for the development of training material, development of technical manuals, and/or conduct of training
Developing and adjusting Technical Manual schedules
Development of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) using the Eagle Publishing System
Participation in Interactive Electronic Technical Manual customer conferences to ensure manuals conform to contract requirements and scheduled peer reviews
Coordinating access to all system resources for team members
Utilizing analytical skillsets to review generated material, determining required subject matter expert inputs, and interpreting engineering technical data
Ensuring costs are within budget and schedule
Monitoring status of other program deliverables for which TMs are dependent on source materials
Fulfilling Statement of Work Requirements with baseline plan and recovery approaches
Generating and refining Scope of Work
Preparing and submitting Technical Manual Contract Data Requirements List
Assessing Risk and Opportunity analysis and management
Providing productivity and status input to Monthly Operating Reviews and Metric Collection
Ensuring regular communication flows between the program office, the core execution team, WLE, and technical manual developers
Periodic CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required for this role.
This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Required Skills:
8+ years professional experience developing written content
6+ years of experience in the aforementioned areas along with a relevant Master's Degree may be considered for this job.
Experience with the development of technical documentation
US Citizenship is required
Desired Skills:
Prior technical leadership experience and leading other team members during problem resolution
Prior experience developing technical documentation for the Department of Defense or foreign military customers
Participation in proposal processes to develop and review cost estimates/proposals packages
Understanding of Earned Value fundamentals and project budgetary management experience
Experience with Enhanced Automated Graphical Logistics Environment (EAGLE) and/or Eagle Publishing System (EPS)
Experience with XML and/or S-1000D authoring
Knowledge of product life cycle management
Experience with presentations and data analysis skills
Six Sigma Specialist (or other similar certification)
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree. 8+ years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors degree.
