We are seeking Systems Engineering professionals in the Integrated Fire Control Systems (IFCS) department at our St. Petersburg, Florida location. The department leads all aspects of Systems Engineering that drive the development of complex systems to support RMDs Land Warfare and Air Defense (LWAD) and Naval Power (NP) mission areas from our Tewksbury MA, Andover MA, and St. Petersburg FL locations. The IFCS department supports RMD by cultivating a world-class group of systems thinkers who work together as a team to architect technical solutions to some of the worlds toughest challenges. Key technical domains include Radar Systems and Sensor Netting, Effector Systems, Battle Management, Command and Control, Communications, Network Design, Battlespace Integration and Interoperability for Domestic and International customers.


Job Summary:

The System Design & Architecture (SD&A) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within RMD, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and System Security Engineering (SSE). We are responsible for system performance for complex, large scale defense applications. Within this directorate, the IFCS employees provide modeling and simulation, system effectiveness, operational analysis, radar systems design and integration, algorithm development, tracking, and discrimination. SDA's core capabilities encompass a wide range of the key systems engineering competencies required for successful technical development and program execution. Our capabilities cover the entire lifecycle, including business capture, proposal development, system requirements and technical design, as well as system integration and test support. Areas of expertise are radar, sensor, battle management solutions, command and control, and cyber security.
The selected applicant will join a team of talented engineers in developing sophisticated naval and maritime solutions in support of the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) program as part of Advanced Networking Solutions (ANS). The U.S. Navys Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC), a real-time sensor-netting system that brings together radar data into a single integrated air picture from geographically dispersed ships, aircraft, and ground-based units. This integrated picture improves a battlegroups effectiveness by enabling longer range, cooperative, or layered engagements. Todays CEC benefits from advancements in commercial and specialized technologies, as well as from the experience and expertise of the Raytheon team, continually innovating to advance capability and performance.


Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • System Design & Algorithm development in Radar Integration utilizing Kalman Filters
  • Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning to drive cutting edge solutions
  • Expectations of the role include comprehensive analytic capabilities utilizing physics and math)
  • Systems Engineering Studies / Trades to determine solutions to technical issues
  • Support the Program office for Customer Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs)
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM). An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the field of engineering or related technical discipline
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value:
  • Proficient with Matlab and/or Simulink programming languages for performance predictions and data analysis
  • Experience in surface or ground based radar tracking algorithms and analysis to include: association and track correlation, track filtering/Kalman filters, situational awareness, data fusion and/or gridlock concepts and techniques
  • Experience with C/C++, MBSE, and SysML
  • Ability to produce and present technical documentation including customer briefings and specifications
  • Technical leadership experience
  • An active SECRET US security clearance, or higher
  • Bachelors/Masters/PhD in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science
  • Solutions oriented individual with initiative and able to communicate technical details effectively (Excellent written and oral communication skills)
  • Experience supporting US Navy and/or DoD customers
  • Strong analytic background in Radar and.or Communications
  • Agile Scrum experience
  • Experience with requirements development including DOORS
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering and SysML and working knowledge of Rhapsody and/or Cameo

The position is based in St. Petersburg, FL, enviably nicknamed The Sunshine City for its average of 248 days of sunshine a year. The area is ideal for fishing, boating, and beautiful top rated Gulf beaches. Its also known for its art and culture scene, as well as its wide variety of local restaurants and bars. For sports fans, The Tampa Bay area is home to the Tampa Bay Rays (MLB), Buccaneers (NFL), and Lightning (NHL). It is also the MLB Spring Training site for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Philadelphia Phillies. Our location is easily commutable from several nearby areas, just 5 miles from Interstate 275; options for where to call home are plentiful within the Tampa Bay area.
