Principal Radar Systems Engineer

The Raytheon Missiles & Defense team is looking for a Principal Radar Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) department. The MDS department provides subject matter expertise for concept development, architectural design, requirements generation & flow down, modeling and simulation, systems analysis, integration, test and evaluation of world-class Missile Defense & Sensor Systems to be achieved through our people, processes, technology and performance.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

You will be working as part of a team to define radar system requirements, design architectures and algorithms in support of those requirements and collaborate with software development teams to ensure effective implementation. Some specific responsibilities include:
  • Analyzing radar system performance data with respect to requirements
  • Identifying performance deficiencies and proposing solutions
  • Defining and prototyping new algorithms to enhance system performance
  • Presenting plans, designs and system performance to peers, internal leadership and external customers
  • Providing subject matter expertise to agile software development teams to ensure proper implementation of requirements
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related STEM degree. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Masters is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in the field of engineering or related technical discipline
  • Experience with Battle Management Command, Control. Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (BMC4I) systems, Radar Systems, or signal processing techniques
  • Experience with developing, documenting, and maintaining processes, methods and tools
  • Proven ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues
  • Experience working with Matlab, C/C++, Java, or DOORS
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
  • Experience with system level requirements development, documentation and maintenance and/or requirements development and design of system level software architecture.
  • Experience with radar system concepts; detection, discrimination, track and signal processing algorithms and their behaviors and performance
  • Experience with the development and coding of system models, algorithms, test vectors and analysis tools in support of analyzing radar requirements and performance
  • Experience and interest in Information Assurance/Cyber Engineering requirements, determination, development, and implementation
  • Experience in using Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and Signal Processing in database and algorithm design and enhancement
  • Previous military service
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to interface with customers and lead technical solutions to complex user needs
  • Strong analytic, technical and problem solving skills
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or greater
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or related discipline
