An exciting opportunity exists for a Principal MMIC Design Engineer to join our Advanced Microelectronics Solutions (AMS) Department at Raytheon Missiles & Defense in Andover, MA.

AMS, part of the RMD business unit, develops, designs, and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, microwave/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and modules for defense applications. The successful candidate will develop RMDs state-of-the-art MMIC products that support air and missile defense systems and radars. Using advanced semiconductor and module technologies, he or she will be responsible for the complete product cycle of the MMIC, including concept, design, layout, test, evaluation, and interfacing with the customer.

In this role, the successful candidate is expected to have the following attributes:
  • Knowledge: Has strong background in RF/microwave engineering. Exhibits high degree of ingenuity and resourcefulness. Familiar with advanced technologies and concepts.
  • Problem Solving: Develops insights that extends knowledge in the MMIC design field and forms the basis of new concepts, theories, and products.
  • Discretion: Acts independently to uncover and resolve issues. Plans R&D ideas to accomplish long-range objectives.
  • Impact: Researches and develops advanced new technology resulting in new product/business opportunities for Raytheon.
  • Liaison: Serves as a technical resource and represents the department as a technical contact to Raytheon as well as external customers. Candidate will be a team player and interact with all levels of the organization.

Required Education, Skill, and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering curriculum
  • Eight or more years of relevant work experience with RF/microwave/mmW MMIC design and test
  • Proficiency in Circuit Simulation tool ADS and in EM tools such as HFSS, Momentum
  • Experience designing RF/MMIC circuits and
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, as this position will need a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance within 1 year of start date

Desired Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering curriculum
  • Broad background in theory and techniques of mmW/microwave circuits, design, and test
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Customer focus and collaboration skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Possess previous experience with a defense contractor and/or government agency.

This position requires the ability to obtain and hold a DoD secret security clearance.
This position requires the successful issuance, transfer or maintenance of any clearances and/or accesses necessary for the position. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
