Due to growth, we are expanding our team. We have a full-time opportunity available for a hands-on Principal Electrical Engineer with strong experience in developing electronic control system architectures with high power AC/DC switching circuits and power supplies.

In this role, you will manage complex technical projects while providing technical solutions, developing detailed hardware and software technical specifications traceable to functional requirements as well as electronics design and testing of embedded microcontroller, digital control, serial communications, and analog signal conditioning circuits.

Responsibilities Include:

Electronics and Electrical System Design:

  • Develop electronic control system architectures including sensors, microprocessor controls, high power DC and AC switching circuits and power supplies
  • Develop early-stage new electronic product concepts including hands-on design of embedded microprocessor and peripheral circuits, analog transducer interfaces, signal conditioning and serial communications interfaces
  • Design electronic products to perform reliably in severe EMI environments
  • Develop detailed hardware and software technical specifications traceable to functional requirements
  • Design and validate firmware used to control our diesel particulate filter systems, working both independently and in collaboration with a software engineer
  • Create electrical system requirements specifications for our diesel particulate filter products based on input from our sales team and our customers
  • Enhance product reliability through design improvements and exhaustive testing of prototypes and production systems
  • Evaluate new product ideas and development initiatives

System Testing

  • Develop test plans to validate new and existing electronic circuits and electrical systems
  • Develop automated acceptance test equipment for our electronic products
  • Develop plans for environmental stress screening of manufactured products
  • Develop, document, and implement product field support procedures for electronic and software systems
  • Make recommendations for product and process enhancements towards continuous quality improvement


  • BSEE/MSEE with 5 to 15 years of current and progressively successful experience in developing early stage product concepts including the design of embedded microprocessor, digital control and analog signal conditioning circuits, preferably in the automotive, heavy duty truck or construction equipment industries
  • Proficiency in designing and testing embedded microcontroller, digital control, serial communications and analog signal conditioning circuits
  • Strong experience in designing electronic products to perform reliably in severe EMI environments
  • Successful track record of successfully managing complex technical projects on a fast-paced development cycle, within schedule and budget
  • Experience using schematic capture software, preferably OrCAD or Altium, to create and maintain engineering drawings
  • Experience developing electronics or electromechanical products under a formal quality management system, including engineering change, document control, and product development procedures
  • Experience in C language programming for embedded systems, Visual Basic programming for graphical user interfaces and electrical equipment UL requirements knowledge is highly desirable
  • Hands-on and solutions-oriented with enthusiasm to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, small team environment, interacting with all levels of management and staff
  • Self-directed with excellent technical writing, communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 10%
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
