RMD has a position for a Principal Specialist, Contracts supporting the Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle (EKV) Program within our Strategic Missile Defense (SMD) Mission Area. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the EKV Contracts team for the Integrated Missile Defense Solutions (IMDS) Program Area Directorate.

The candidate will support the Contracts Manager on the IMDS EKV Program with contractual support and administration of the Cost Plus Incentive Fee (CPIF)/ Cost Plus Award-Fee (CPAF)/ Fixed Price Incentive Fee (FPIF)/ Time & Materials (T&M) development efforts under the EKV Program. The successful candidates duties includes Requests for Proposals (RFP) analysis, proposal development, review and coordination of contract modifications, scope review, contract negotiations, customer correspondence and general contract management duties. The candidate will work closely with Contracts Leaders, Program Managers, and Business/Estimating, and Supply Chain functions to construct, submit and negotiate pricing proposals.

This position may be located Remotely. Travel may be required to Tucson, AZ and Huntsville, AL if working remotely or at a different location.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Provide day-to-day contract management support to the program team, finance, engineering, quality, supply chain, and estimating regarding contractual and overall business issues
  • Act as the contracts team interface with external customers (Contracting Officers/Subcontracts Managers) in all facets including customer communication (verbal and written), negotiations, financial requests, meetings, and general day-to-day contract management issues.
  • Administer contracts and business agreements with moderate to significant scope and complexity and provide contractual guidance on changes
  • Lead proposal response efforts, review customer RFPs, prepare, submit, and negotiate proposals to be incorporated into the contract while focusing on compliance and company cash flow
  • Provide reviews of RFPs to support incoming business while providing sound contract guidance and oversight to determine contractual risks and recommend strategies where appropriate

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Law, or related field (Higher education may be considered in lieu of 2 years of experience)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in contracts administration, including proposal preparation and contract negotiation
  • Experience with US government regulations (such as Federal Acquisition Regulations [FAR] and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement [DFARS])
  • Experience with contract finance/pricing
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

  • Experience working with cost type contracts values at over $25M
  • Experience reporting contract/subcontract performance to company leadership
  • Proven record of responsiveness with strong time management and organization skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and shared data bases
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and handle several assignments concurrently
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to unusual and complex contracting issues
  • Experience in a position where effective relationships with customers and internal partners were developed based on understanding and trust
