As an HPC Cloud Technologist on our Program Cloud Solutions team youll use your experience to research, design, implement, and administer Cloud based High Performance Computing solutions, particularly focused on HPC infrastructure delivery and the latest available vendor services. You will be challenged with providing High Performance Computing System Engineering support to the engineering consumers assisting with the development of Cloud based HPC-optimized solutions including high performance computing clusters, associated data storage, and networking environments, including use of GPUs and cloud-based environments.

A Solid understanding of Linux and Windows Server fundamentals is required, including NFS, DNS, DHCP, AD. You will work as a team member in a fast paced technological environment to help develop and implement new technologies based upon industry best practices. You will use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems at a high scope and complexity to include the integration of high performance software and operating systems (OS) in a cloud based environment. An understanding of software tools, automated scripts, batch schedulers, hardware and system-level troubleshooting is required to lead and support the Cloud based HPC engineering community. You will perform OS tuning to maximize performance on Cloud based systems. You will also perform benchmarking and optimization to maximize system performance. You will work across IT functions, including Cybersecurity professionals, to standardize processes and procedures to maintain security compliance. You will provide documentation and training on advanced IT HPC processes and procedures and be a mentor to junior team members.



Responsibilities to Anticipate:

In this role, your responsibilities will include:
  • Identifying new opportunities for using cloud based HPC services and infrastructure to reduce program cost or schedule
  • Implementation of HPC cloud solutions in programs and shared environments
  • Develop key reference architectures and designs for HPC Cloud implementations
  • Research new HPC Cloud technology trends, assessing their utility and developing concept of operations for deployment within RMD
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring for junior members of the team
  • Working closely with program Systems Administrators to understand existing server infrastructure and developing cloud-based HPC replacements
  • Collaborate on best practices for HPC cloud environments, develop workflows and DevOps pipelines.


This role is based in Tewksbury, MA (primary) with occasional travel our Andover, MA location. If necessary, relocation is available to the selected applicant if they are qualified per company policy. This role will be on a full time telecommuting work schedule to start, and will change to a part time or hybrid telecommuting schedule when the company determines that all employees are allowed onsite.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • In-depth knowledge of High Performance Computing scheduling and monitoring tools such as SLURM, HT Condor, and Ganglia
  • 8+ years experience in systems engineering, IT infrastructure, or IT systems administration
  • Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) related discipline (other degrees will be considered on a case by case basis).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. Except in rare cases, only US Citizens are eligible for Security Clearances.
  • Understanding of cloud computing based architectures, including IaaS, Paas and SaaS models.
  • Advanced experience with Windows and Unix security hardening, systems integrations, advanced troubleshooting
  • Advanced knowledge of OS internals, file system structures, and machine architectures
  • Knowledge of data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions
  • Familiar with TCP/IP, switches, firewalls, routers, and their basic operations



Qualifications We Value:
  • Familiar with Intel and AMD based technologies
  • Working knowledge of InfiniBand and RDMA technology and architecture
  • Experience with enabling tools and/or models for HPC
  • Experience creating technical documentation, such as writing technical implementation guides
  • Ability to lead special projects and manage resources
  • Effective customer and communication skills
  • Self-Starter, customer focused, adaptable, attention to detail, time management and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow established procedures
  • Working knowledge of parallel processing to include the support of Matlab, Python, FORTRAN, Java, C/C++, OpenMP, MPI, OpenGL and CUDA on CPU/GPU platforms
  • High-level understanding of various simulation environments, to include CFD, FPGA, and 6DOF
  • Knowledge and experience in the establishment of a DevOps pipeline to include build, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
  • Familiarity of cloud architecture implementation in Government instances of Amazon Web Services (e.g. GovCloud) and/or Microsoft Azure (e.g. Microsoft Azure for Government)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation, e.g. Terraform, Packer, Chef, Ansible
  • Experience with VMware VSphere (ESXi, vCenter, etc)
  • Experience scripting in languages such as Perl, Ruby, Powershell, BASH or Python
  • Familiarity with DoD security configuration requirements, hardening procedures and settings
  • Experience training and mentoring colleagues
  • Organizational skills to include: attention to detail, time management and ability to multitask
