Research Associate in Applied Superconductivity for Electric Aircraft (Fixed Term)
Reference: CF10112R
Salary: Starting from £35,333, rising to £42,155 per annum
Grade: Grade 7
If you are looking for a challenging opportunity in the electrification of aviation, we are seeking an exceptional Research Associate to work as part of a collaborative project with Airbus and Universities for net-zero aviation.
As a central member of the team, the objective is to deliver superconducting fault current limiters and its cryogenic cooling system, and superconducting power equipment for large-scale electric aircraft.
We are looking for a motivated Research Associate who can communicate and work collaboratively with the academic and industrial partners in this large consortium project. You will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or relevant areas. You will be expected to assist in the delivery of the project work packages, undertaking the research activity under the guidance of the principal investigator.
About the role and expertise requested:
You will focus on superconducting fault current limiters and cryogenic cooling system, and superconducting power equipment for large-scale electric aircraft. You will have prior expertise in design of large-scale superconducting devices, including skills for the finite element analysis and experimental characterizations of superconducting coils. Knowledge of cryogenic cooling system and thermal design is a plus.
