Job Title: Power System Cybersecurity Engineer
Location: Washington - Pullman

As the electric power grid becomes smarter, we need make sure critical assets on the power system are resilient and do not fall victim to inherent cyber insecurity. SEL is searching for exceptional individuals who understand the fundamentals and details of electric power systems and can apply that knowledge to understanding how cybersecurity issues can impact the performance of local and wide area power grids.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain a detailed understanding of electric power systems and how to protect, monitor and control them.
2. Research and model the impact that legacy and modern power system equipment can have on local and wide area power systems
3. Conceive and develop concepts for new technologies and enhancements to existing technologies.
4. Lead in providing power system engineering support for customers.
5. Serve as project technical lead.
6. Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operation and World Class Manufacturing principles.
7. Understand. Create. Simplify.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Typically 6+ years of experience in electric power systems, power system modeling and philosophies 

Experience modeling power systems and associated devices using ATP, EMTP, RSCAD, or related software. 

Strong understanding of the smart grid electronic devices and how they integrate into power system protection, automation, and control
Excellent technical training, speaking and writing skills
Experience leading a portion of a project
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL 

US Citizen
Negative drug test result(s) 

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of SEL products
Experience in power system modeling
