Job responsibilities:

Postdocs are expected to contribute to the research conducted by the hosting Unit through active cooperation with its staff, writing and publishing articles on the topic of the scientific work conducted, and sharing their experience with students.

By the end of their postdoctoral training, a postdoctoral researcher is expected to pursue their independent research career.

ITMO University (St. Petersburg, Russia) offers researcher positions at the International Research Center of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials, which is led by Professor Pavel Belov.

Among the fields the Center’s scientific groups specialize in are:

  • dielectric and quantum nanophotonics
  • biophotonics
  • topological photonics
  • nanoplasmonics
  • optical and microwave metamaterials and metasurfaces
  • meta-devices for MRI
  • wireless power transmission
  • nanooptomechanics

We conduct our many research and educational projects in close cooperation with a wide range of world-renowned universities, including Texas University in Dallas, University of Utrecht, University of Aalto, University of Iceland, Nanyang Technological University, and Australian National University. The Research Center’s achievements have been recognized by two mega-grants (a Russian national program aimed at attracting leading international scientists into Russian research and educational organizations), several Russian grants and a grant of the European Horizon 2020 program.

The Center has all the state-of-the-art experimental and computing equipment needed for conducting high-level scientific research in the fields of plasmonics, dielectric nanophotonics, and nonlinear optics, as well as for implementing various industry-oriented projects. The latter include the development of wireless radio frequency coils for MRI (the Center’s work in this field has received recognition by the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine), wireless power transmission, perovskite-based solar cells, perovskite LEDs, and others.

We have substantial scientific resources and significant international-level achievements proven by publications in high-impact journals such as Nature Photonics, Chemical Society Reviews, Advanced Materials, Advanced Function Materials, ACS Nano, Nano Letters, Physical Review Letters, Laser & Photonics Reviews, Nanoscale, ACS Photonics and others.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and interviews will be conducted via Skype.
