Postdoc in Internet of Things as part of multidisciplinary university collaboration to strengthen the Digital Innovation Ecosystem

DTU Compute is offering a two-year Postdoc position beginning 1st August 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. With this position, DTU Compute wishes to enhance multidisciplinary research in digital technologies, focused on the Internet of Things and its application within bio-cyber-physical systems, i.e. micro- laboratories as things connected to the internet. Beside core research, the aim of the position is to generate new practice-oriented digital innovation to ensure a strong ecosystem for digitalization in research, education and business. You will spend 20% of your time on digital innovation projects and activities, mainly anchored and physically taking place in DTU Skylab Digital (www.skylab.dtu.dk).

The position is part of a larger cross-university initiative to strengthen the application of digital technologies in practice, i.e. in corporations, which feed into a Digital Innovation Hub physically placed in DTU Skylab. DTU Skylab is already an innovation hub and maker space of students. The postdoc will play a central role in empowering students and businesses to embark in digitalization and digital innovations.

Responsibilities and tasks
The main task of the postdoc position is to strengthen our research in programmable digital microfluidics and liquid computation based on our modular platform for digital microfluidics. In this position, you will actively engage in our ongoing and prospective research activities on future connected micro-laboratories, where we aim at developing a fully portable micro-laboratory connected to the internet, providing lab-services anywhere at any time. 20% of the tasks consist of practice-oriented innovation activities contributing to enhancing the cross-collaboration Digital Innovation Hub in DTU Skylab digital. Innovation activities will include, while not being limited to, supporting DTU Skylab’s new DigiLab, mentoring of student projects, partaking in business case student innovation hackathons, Open Innovation X sprints, competence-enhancing educational programmes, and multi-stakeholder collaborations with students and businesses.

Qualifications
You should have a PhD degree (or equivalent) within mathematics, computer science or electrical engineering with a focus on Internet of Things and its application for mobile and distributed micro-laboratories. If you are close to completing your PhD studies, your application is considered. You must have an excellent academic record, be highly motivated and have very good English writing skills.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The position is a full-time position and the employment is for 24 months beginning 1st August 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter
