Responsibilities and Duties

The CCG Client Architecture (CDAS) team is seeking an experienced Graphics Systems and IP Architect with proven track record and experience on PCs client platforms.

In this position, the candidate will be responsible for defining requirements and IP features related to overall graphics subsystem across the various client platform segments.

This position requires a strong background in current graphics technologies, graphics APIs, knowledge of competitive products (e.g., Apple, NVidia, AMD) and awareness/knowledge of graphics standards efforts.

Other responsibilities include driving domain arch roadmaps, evaluating solutions, driving TR and POC development to demonstrate proof points and/or decisions leading to trade-offs, authoring Graphic System Architecture Specifications, driving Feature Requirements closure (via HSD), and making architecture advocacy for CCG product lines.

The candidate will work in a matrixed organization and be responsible for the definition, design, development and deployment of CCG's future platform and stay engaged through the entire Gladius process aka from cradle-to-grave.

Specific deliverables include:

  • Architect and develop end-to-end requirements for various graphic and graphic-related usages.
  • Jointly define competitive landing zone and decompose these into architectural features, IP requirements including trade-offs.
  • Define use cases, and create System Architecture Specifications for various platforms regarding graphics and related technologies.
  • Work with power and performance architects, power delivery architects, and thermal architects in establishing KPIs and other system targets.
  • Work with OSVs, ISVs, IP engineering, and validation teams to drive the solution architecture POR.
  • Research, recommend, specify and document technology for platforms in support of the organization's strategic vision.
  • Responsible for translating business/customer requirements into platform architecture encompassing hardware, software, SoCs, and other components designed to support a variety of systems, solutions, and applications.
  • Design, develop, and analyze overall platform architecture and partitioning between hardware and software to meet use cases and workloads in terms of performance, scalability, manageability, reliability, and security requirements.
  • Leads architectural governance and decisions related to product technology and platform tradeoffs as part of a cross-functional architecture decision group.
  • Provide technical direction for platform, SoC and component design activities. Influences the shaping of future products/solutions by significantly contributing to the architecture and technology employed throughout the compute continuum.
  • Provides multilayered technical expertise for next-generation initiatives.

A successful candidate must demonstrate but not limited to:

  • Depth of knowledge in 3D Graphics techniques and the 3D graphics pipeline.
  • Deep understanding of 3D GFX APIs such as DirectX, OpenGL, OpenGL-ES, Metal and Vulkan, along with programming constructs and languages such as C++, C#, and Java. Familiarity with Python and Objective-C is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of Windows and Android Operating Systems, including kernel and user mode services, graphic and graphic composition workflow. Familiarity with Linux is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of the graphic device driver stack, architecture, and methodology.
  • Understanding of competitive architectures including experience with CUDA and OpenCL is a plus.
  • Experience in power and performance analysis of 3D graphics workloads.
  • Exposure to workloads such as 3D games, content creation, and other graphic related content.
  • Experience with extended GPU usages, including GPGPU, Neural Nets, Machine Learning, etc. with the ability to analyze and trade-off implementation using GPUs versus dedicated HW IP
  • Familiarity with 3D Graphics simulators and projection models
  • Working knowledge of graphics benchmarking and tests
  • Candidate must be able to work effectively with HW, FW and SW architects internally with partner organizations, including IAX (VTT) and IAGS.
  • Strong experience in both software and hardware aspects of platforms such as CPU/SOC knowledge, debug, validation, driver, OS SW stack, application, performance analysis, power analysis and Ux.
  • Candidate must possess strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Must be willing to take initiatives and coordinate with cross-group teams on uncovering issues, identifying solutions and getting engineering teams spread across different geo/time zones to buy into the solutions.
  • Must be results-oriented and willing and able to quickly ramp up on new technologies and evaluate the user experience impact.


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree with 9+ years of experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent with relevant industry Graphics domain experience.
