We have an opening for an Engineering Technical Associate/Senior Technical Associate to support programmatic work within the Plasma Engineering Group (PEG). You will provide programmatic support and technical oversight for projects within Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI), Physical and Life Sciences (PLS), and/or other projects within the PEG. You will provide technical expertise to professional and technical personnel in research and development environments to test, troubleshoot, repair, and evaluate electrical equipment and systems throughout the Livermore site, Site 300 (in Tracy), and other off-site locations. Overtime and occasional travel will be required. This position is in the National Security Engineering Division (NSED) within the Engineering Directorate.

This position will be filled at the 337.1 or 339.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned as appropriate if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Collaborate on the definition of functional requirements, solve complex to highly complex technical and resource problems and evaluate alternative design concepts consistent with schedule, cost, and material limitations.
- Develop, prepare, present and participate in required design reviews, reports, procedures and other communications in support of technical and administrative assignments.
- Provide advanced electronic support to analyze, troubleshoot, repair, and evaluate complex to highly complex electrical and electronic equipment for safety and compliance per the various national consensus standards.
- Evaluate and make decisions, independently under general supervision to establish or modify guidelines, techniques, and procedures to choose appropriate work methods and when necessary, to set priorities.
- Interact regularly with laboratory staff, including high-level technical support personnel, professionals, and contacts throughout the Laboratory to ensure work is conducted safely, and to ensure that programmatic goals are met.
- Work in environments that include high explosive and other hazardous environments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

In Addition, at the 339.2 Level
- Provide highly advanced technical expertise in the areas of applied engineering technology and make independent, fundamental decisions under minimal direction.
- Planning, design fabrication, project support, testing and evaluation where the qualitative and quantitative complexity of the project assignment demands original highly complex and innovative solutions.

- Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience with extensive previous relevant experience.
- Significant experience working with, and advanced knowledge of, the proper ES&H procedures for high-explosive work environments and other hazardous environments.
- Experience directing technical support work through the effective utilization of people and available resources.
- Experience in electrical engineering project leadership, including work planning, scheduling, cost estimating, budgets, drawing requirements and reporting.
- Experience in formal design reviews and technical presentations.
- Advanced verbal, written, feedback, and presentation communication skills within related specific technical areas.
- Ability to collaborate and interact effectively with people at all levels.
- Ability to occasionally travel to other sites when needed.

In Addition, at the 339.2. Level
- Extensive experience making independent fundamental decisions, defining project approaches and implementing original solutions to highly complex technical problems with minimal direction.
- Proven ability to meet project requirements and deadlines involving highly complex technical aspects.
- Extensive experience in projecting complete design cycle function time for multi-disciplined projects.

Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with LLNL work control processes.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note: This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
