Job Summary

The Department of Physics and Engineering invites qualified applicants for a Full-Time Faculty Appointment in Physics (Tenure Track).



Teach the equivalent of a full seven-course load per year, including physics courses designed for students majoring in physics and engineering, as well as courses intended for students majoring in life science, chemistry, education, and other disciplines.

The faculty member will be responsible for developing his or her own research program, guiding undergraduate students in research, and participating in the maintenance of teaching and research lab facilities. General faculty responsibilities will include student advising, and department and committee assignments.





Proven research skills and passion for leading undergraduate research and mentoring students, particularly in the field of optics. Ability to collaborate with and contribute to the department's emphasis on applied physics. Strong desire and ability to teach physics to a broad range of students.


Post-doctoral research experience, either academic or industrial. 

Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated potential to conduct vigorous research in atomic, molecular, and  optical physics and/or ultra-fast lasers. Demonstrated teaching excellence. Experience in or collaboration with industry.


Ph.D. in Physics or Optical Science preferred. Doctorate in applied physics or engineering considered.
