Physics Division Student Intern - Graduate and Recent Graduate

We have multiple openings for continuing graduate studentsand recent graduates with a bachelors or masters degree within one year to engage in practical research experience to further their educational goals. You will provide technical and/or research support to projects in the areas of: Optical Imaging; Astrophysics and Planatary Science; Atomic and Particle Physics, and Accelerator Science; Applied Physics; High Energy Density Physics; and Plasma Physics and Fusion Energy. This position may involve hands-on work in a laboatory, computation or data analysis.

Essential Duties
- Students will work with scientist and physicist by performing laboratory or computational research.
- Gather and analyze data or information in support of scientific research.
- Under limited direction and supervision will conduct research in assigned area.
- Perform technical assignments of a basic degree of complexity and provide advanced technical support to scientist in scientific research and development projects.
- Present work through presentations and/or poster sessions.
- Perform other duties as needed.

- Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a graduate degree or a recent graduate with a bachelors or masters degree within one year. (e.g., physics, engineering, computer science or a related field)
- Demonstrated academic achievement in the physical sciences with experience applying basic and scientific principles to solve technical problems. (e.g., physics, engineering, computer science or a related field)
- Experience applying basic physics principles to solve technical problems.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills.
- Ability to present and communicate concepts and ideas.
- Experience working with personal computers and familiarity with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Experience in operating PC and/or Macintosh computer to translate and report scientific data.

Desired Qualifications
- GPA of 3.0 or above.

Security Clearance: None required.
