Job Description

Software architect is responsible for the technical direction of a project. Makes high level design choices for the software structure, frameworks, protocols, and algorithms. Determines coding practices, development tools, and validation requirements. Performs pathfinding and surveys technologies. Interacts with multiple technologists in the company and within the industry as well as between developers and project managers to evaluate feasibility of requirements and determine priorities for development.

Our Storage pathfinding team is part of Intel Xeon Group and is responsible for evolving, with the storage ecosystem, the strategy, architecture, and implementation of ultra-fast storage stack software technologies including Flash Translation Layer (FTL), RAID, Caching/Tiering, NVMe, and other Intel Xeon-connected drivers in Windows, Linux, UEFI, VMWare, and emerging cloud native environments.

Our Storage pathfinding team is part of Intel Xeon Group and is responsible for evolving, with the storage ecosystem, the strategy, architecture, and implementation of ultra-fast storage stack software technologies including Flash Translation Layer (FTL), RAID, Caching/Tiering, NVMe, and other Intel Xeon-connected drivers in Windows, Linux, UEFI, VMWare, and emerging cloud native environments.

A successful candidate will perform research/pathfinding by rapidly prototyping in C/C++/Python/R to test hypotheses, file invention disclosures (patents), and ensure continual flow of innovations into new or existing products.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.


Minimum Qualifications:
The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
8+ years of industry experience with C/C++ programming.
5+ years of industry experience writing device drivers in Linux, Windows, UEFI or ESXi.
3+ years of industry experience with prototyping/scripting languages like Python, bash.


Preferred Qualifications:

2+ years of experience in the following areas:

  • Storage protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, SCSI, etc.
  • Databases, storage stacks, and SSDs.
  • Research/pathfinding.
  • Commercial product development/validation environment.
