Job Description

Responsible for technical functions in support of engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, modifications, fabrications, of design circuitry, electromechanical systems, or specialized test equipment. Conducts engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect data or assist in research work. May perform operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assignments are semi routine in nature. Work performed within generally defined parameters. Some degree of judgment required in resolving nonstandard problems. Normally receives general instructions on most work.


Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:
A High School/Equivalent with 10-15 years OR Associates Degree in Science or Arts with 6-10 years or Bachelors Degree in Science with 4- years of experience
4+  years experience in Intel overclocking techniques, feature sets and optimization
4+  years experience in computing platform hardware, firmware and software tuning and optimization

Preferred Qualifications:
8+  years professional/hands-on experience in computing platform (Intel Core and Xeon) hardware, firmware and software tuning and optimization
Ability to conduct experiments and functional testing in a lab environment. This will include:
Configuring platforms (board, processor, coolers, etc.)
Installing specific OC and application scenarios
Executing a wide range of tests; examples include
Assisting engineers with replicating issues and regression testing BIOS, SW, pCode, uCode fixes as they become available
Conducting highly detailed experiments of thermal material impacts on OC performance. Configuring fully instrumented platforms with extensive data logging

Hand testing processors, of each generation, to assess OC Frequency headroom
Configuring customer preproduction motherboards to assess their OC health for CCG's Press Kit program
Testing new socket topologies to assess their positive or negative impacts on OC headroom (Elastomer, RGA, inverted)
Work will be conducted in partnership with other Engineers who will organize DOEs, closely monitor, and analyze results. The specialist will accelerate the OC team's ability to produce results though managing lab tasks and enabling other engineers to have a greater focus outside the lab.
