Job Summary: As an Ordnance Assessment Engineer you will perform Surveillance/Ordnance Assessment (OA) engineering activities in support of a missile program. The Ordnance Assessment Program is a combined surveillance and shelf life assessment program that assists our customers in inventory management decisions and provides a continuing assessment of the effects of operational environments on the products safety, quality, performance, reliability, and service life status.
Executing missile and lower level teardown inspections
Writing energetic item accelerated aging and test plans
Coordinating accelerated aging and testing of energetic and mechanical components
Writing assessment reports and presenting results at Customer reviews
Responsibilities to Anticipate: In this role, youll work with a variety of stakeholders, including our Customers, various commercial and government test facilities, test integrated product teams as well as Raytheon Missiles & Defense engineering and support organizations. Youll collaborate with engineers and scientists to evaluate product service/shelf life limitations, performance, safety, and reliability and will oversee surveillance activities including environmental and functional testing at internal and external test facilities. Additional responsibilities include:
Engineering analysis
Oversight of test & evaluation
Generation of test plans
Test reports
Reduction of test data for use in making service/shelf life predictions in support of contract deliverables
Identifying methods and processes to uncover service/shelf life limitation in all aspects of product design
Participation in Program and Technical reviews
Estimated 10% domestic travel required for offsite testing of energetics and working group meetings with our customers. An advanced degree may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Masters Degree is equal to 2 years of experience and a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience
Qualifications You Must Have: Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering; BS in Systems, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical preferred Employment Experience:
6+ years experience in engineering
Experience with root cause or failure analysis
Experience with project management
Experience with hardware testing, integration, reliability, or failure modes.
Experience with materials selection, characterization or testing
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US Citizenship is required, as only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
