Job Description

Georgia Tech Research Institute's Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research (CIPHER) Laboratory is currently seeking a skilled Orchestration engineer with a background in Linux system administration. Candidates must enjoy working with open source software and cutting edge technologies. Candidates will contribute to sponsored research projects and have an opportunity to work with scientists and engineers.

Job Responsibilities

- Oversee Continuous Integration and Continuous Development processes
- Configuration management
- Architecture as Code
- Design and build a secure infrastructure
- Deploy and maintain software applications on Linux environments
- Virtual Machine management

Primary Skills

- Red Hat OpenShift / Kubernetes / Docker Swarm (3+ years)
- Docker Containers (3+ years)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (3+ years)
- Strong scripting or programming skills bash/python/ruby/Java/perl (3+ years)

Secondary Skills

- Architecture as Code Tools: Terraform / Packer / Cloudformation
- Continuous Integration Tools: Bamboo / Jenkins
- Build Tools: Gradle / Maven
- Infrastructure Services: Amazon Web Services, VMware, HyperV
- Mandatory Access Control: Security Enhanced Linux
- Networking Experience
- Tomcat / Oracle / Apache
- Risk Management Framework (RMF)

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field of study. 

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field of study and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field of study and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field of study.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience (academic, personal or professional)
  • Technical diagnostic expertise including problem investigation, reproduction, and resolution skills
  • Ability to acquire new skills efficiently
  • Thrives in collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Masters Degree or willing to pursue advanced degree

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance upon hire
