The Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) is looking for Scientists in the Operational Analysis field to join the Research Department. The successful candidates will contribute to the Decision Support project within the Autonomy for ASW Programme and the Planning and Evaluation for Autonomous Naval MCM within the Autonomous Naval Mine Counter measures Programme at CMRE. These positions are being recruited at the A2 Scientist level.


The Research Department conducts multidisciplinary theoretical, numerical and experimental research in the fields of: acoustic signal processing; physical and dynamic oceanography; control theory; data mining; fusion and algorithm development.



Role and Responsibilities:

Under the management of relevant A-ASW or ANMCM Programme Managers, the incumbent will perform duties such as the following:  

  • Support the relevant Programme to enhance both the scientific understanding and operational/tactical employment of Maritime Unmanned Systems (MUS) for MCM or ASW operations through Operational Research studies and at sea experimentation.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of up-to-date operational analysis techniques together with advances in Maritime Unmanned Systems technology and robotics.
  • Act as impartial analyst for various technological solutions to unmanned MCM or ASW in order to provide Nations with advice as to the most suitable concepts.
  • Contribute to development of future tactics and doctrine towards the conduct of unmanned missions.


The incumbent maybe required to perform other related duties.

  • Applicants who prove to be competent for the post but who are not successful in this competition may be offered an appointment to another post of a similar nature, which might become vacant in the near future, albeit at the same or a lower grade, provided they meet the necessary requirements.
