Job Description

Intel is seeking a software engineering manager to manage the Intel OpenMP and Threading Runtimes team. As a Software Engineering manager, you will lead a motivated and uniquely skilled team responsible for delivering the IA-optimized OpenMP runtime for our internal compilers and to the open source LLVM community, and provides critical contributions to oneDPL and oneRuntime. You will have the unique ability to manage and grow the team of software engineers with a varied level of seniority. Team activities include the continued development and performance optimization of language-level runtime libraries and stacks, support of internal teams developing tools and libraries that use the team's products, and participation in the standards bodies that develop the open language and library specifications to which the team's products comply.

This team deals with the software lifecycle end-to-end: requirements, design, development, debugging, validation and optimization, customer engagement and up streaming. You will be the key person in providing direction and goals to the group of stakeholders both internal and external. An ideal candidate would exhibit behavioral skills that indicate:

  • Strong communication skills, including ability to communicate project status, and technical details to upper management

  • The ability to work with technical leaders in other organization to establish objectives and priorities for the team

  • Experience with managing software project schedules and day to day activities of software engineering team


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or with a related field with at least +2 years of the 1st-level engineering or project management experience.

  • Experience in managing software development projects from requirements gathering to completion, preferably in high performance computing (HPC) tools and/or runtimes or adjacent areas

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with technical leaders in other organizations to establish objectives and priorities for technical projects

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrated fluency in spoken/written English

  • The ability to serve both as a people and a technical team manager

  • Working knowledge of core focus areas including shared memory parallel programming and parallel programming paradigms such as OpenMP, Threading Building Blocks, parallel programming, parallel runtimes, Linux OS, modern CPU architectures, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • People management experience - performance management and technical pipeline development, project management, stakeholder management, hiring. People management experience with a team of 5-12 engineers

  • Strong technical skills, including C/C++, particularly C++ templates and object-oriented programming

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and specialized tools (version control, Github, bug tracking, metrics collection, opensource)

  • Ability to understand SW product architecture on a high-level and make relevant decisions
