The Staff Relations Office at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), has an opening for an Office Administrator. You will work independently and as a team following established procedures to assess business, operational and organizational requirements and deliverables and apply general knowledge of policies, procedures and practices to develop, approve and implement administrative and operational activities. The Staff Relations Office is within the Directors Office.

Essential Duties
- Oversee the daily administrative operations of the Staff Relations Office; assess administrative needs and develop and implement actions to resolve day-to-day issues.
- Serve as a working supervisor for non-exempt administrative staff to include training, coaching, mentoring, career development, performance appraisals, coordinating work assignments. Investigate and identify solutions to administrative and personnel matters.
- Review documentation for adherence to policy to ensure consistency within work unit.
- Establish and maintain complex databases, spreadsheets, and tracking systems to ensure timely implementation and follow up of all action items.
- With minimal supervision, review and interpret case files and prepare correspondence for Staff Relations Managers and Advocates.
- Assess, research, analyze, establish and implement internal administrative procedures and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of administrative operations. Research and interpret personnel policy and make recommendations.
- Lead and coordinate complex meetings and high-level visits involving intricate administrative logistics and security requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Experience coordinating administrative and operational work activities and multi-faceted internal processes for the work unit and/or functional area.
- Experience participating in and/or leading business, operational and/or organizational activities or projects with the ability to understand, interpret, and apply related policies and procedures.
- Effective leadership and team-building skills.
- Understanding of basic principles of personnel administration, policies and procedures and of HR compliance requirements for personnel administration.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills necessary to independently advise, resolve, recommend and approve appropriate actions to implement solutions.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues with tact, discretion, and mature judgment.
- Advanced written and communication skills necessary to effectively interact with all levels of personnel internal and external to LLNL, including accurate editing and proof-reading skills.
- Advanced knowledge of personal computers and associated software including spreadsheets, databases, and MS Office applications and experience developing reports for use in management decision making.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiatea Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. L-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note: This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
