Job Description

GTRI is seeking a highly motivated Object Oriented (OO) Software Developer with the ability to design, develop and support mission-critical systems on commercial and/or military platforms.  The successful candidate will perform as an engineer and software architect for a mid-sized team of software engineers executing ongoing sponsored programs in the field of mobile applications development. 

Basic Responsibilities 

  • OO software development
  • Software architecture design
  • Technical oversight of junior members

Core competencies for this position:  

  • Experience working with Object Oriented systems
  • Expertise with object oriented software design and implementation concepts and best practices
  • Experience with unit-test code development for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
  • Experience with software bug trouble-shooting and corrections
  • Expertise with improving application performance
  • Ability to provide constructive peer reviews of other team members’ code from the OO perspective
  • Experience with modern software development processes (e.g. Agile)
  • Works well individually or in a group setting
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure and time constraints
  • Ability to self-motivate and derive specific requirements from general tasking descriptions 
  • Ability to assimilate and apply new job-related information in a timely manner

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer I

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • >3 years relevant experience in OO software development
  • US Citizenship
  • DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain a clearance within six months after your employment with Georgia Tech Research Institute begins is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • JAVA experience
  • Spring framework experience
  • Technical knowledge of mobile application architectures
  • Existing DoD Secret clearance
  • DoD contract work experience

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
