The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) invites applications for a non-tenure-track instructor position in Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering.

The new instructor will contribute to excellence in both undergraduate and graduate teaching in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, mentor and advise students, and participate in professional, service and outreach activities.

Successful applicants will teach effectively in our diverse University community, and be dedicated to helping students from diverse backgrounds succeed.

The ECE Department offers ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited BS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Optics, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering. The Department is strong in both traditional and emerging areas of the discipline, with substantial laboratory facilities supporting instructional and research missions.

We seek individuals who work professionally and effectively with diverse individuals, possess effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to contribute positively to the academic success of the students and the mission of Montana State University.

Requirements

REQUIRED Qualifications:

  1. MS or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or closely related field, by date of hire
  2. Evidence of being an effective educator
  3. Ability to teach a wide range of courses, including most lower-division courses.
  4. Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills:

  1. Potential to be an excellent educator.
  2. Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Electrical and Computer Engineering department.
  3. Ability to promote the advancement of diversity and inclusion in electrical engineering.

The Successful Candidate will be a dynamic educator and communicator who has:

  • a broad understanding of the topics found in electrical engineering;
  • excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, students, and the engineering industry;
  • the potential to teach in a diverse University community;
  • an appreciation for diverse constituencies and diversity within the department.
