Wehave an opening for an Office Manager to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will work independently to plan, execute, and/or provide oversight to a variety of business, workforce, operational and organizational requirements and activities. This position is in the National Ignition Facility and Photon Science (NIF&PS) Principal Associate Directorate (PAD).

Essential Duties
- Supervise exempt PAD administrative staff including performance management, performance appraisals, mentoring, workload management.
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day administrative operations of the PAD office; assess administrative needs and develop and implement actions to resolve complex day-to-day issues.
- Research, analyze, establish and implement internal administrative procedures and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of administrative operations; serve as point of contact regarding administrative requests.
- Oversee and manage the administrative processes and aspects of the NIF&PS Scholar Program and all survey results and diversity metrics reporting out to the NIF&PS PAD.
- Oversee and participate in planning, decision-making, and coordination of NIF&PS PAD hosted conferences, events, internal review committees; provide guidance and high-level coordination on behalf of NIF&PS to Lab-wide Outreach events.
- Manage, coordinate, and complete all PAD-level hires (e.g., postings, interview process, hire packages), terminations, transfers, including personnel. records/files for all new and existing NIF&PS-wide payroll staff. Manage and oversee all PAD-level consultants and visiting science professionals (VSP).
- Manage and oversee NIF&PS awards and recognition program, working closely with lead administrator and resource manager.
- Oversee and provide guidance, on PAD-wide roles as records liaison office, return to work manager, and information management responsible individual.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Associate Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of significant experience and education in a related business, operational and/or organizational area.
- Experience supervising the work of others.
- Experience participating in and leading administrative, business, operational and/or organizational activities, events and multi-faceted internal processes in functional area.
- Specialized and operational knowledge of industry practices with experience applying analytical and research skills; experience resolving complex issues effectively.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of principles of personnel administration, policies and procedures, compliance requirements and state and federal laws (FLSA, ADA, EEO, etc.), including all processes related to postings, hiring, and job reclassifications.
- Administrative and organizational skills, including attention to detail, flexibility and experience independently coordinating and prioritizing multiple and complex work activities, often with conflicting deadlines. Ability to work effectively with short deadlines and frequent interruptions.
- Experience interacting with all levels of personnel exercising a high degree of discretion, mature judgment, and tact in handling issues of a sensitive nature and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills necessary to effectively explain, present, direct, negotiate and influence others. Experience representing management to diverse internal and external contacts, communicating managers direction.
- Advanced knowledge of computers and associated software including MS Office applications and experience developing complex reports for use in management decision making.

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in a related field.

Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire.

Note: This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
