About the Role: Our Aerospace Electrical Cables & Components team is looking for a New Product Development Engineer to join our team in Elkton, Maryland. As an experienced New Product Development Engineer, you will leverage your technical knowledge to develop and commercialize new Aerospace High Speed Data and Power/Voltage products and materials that are highest quality in their class

Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the end use of products, determining fitness-for-use of materials, and effectively advancing the specification development of new and derivative products
  • Driving the development and refinement of new test methods and characterization techniques in partnership with other functions
  • Working hands-on to identify critical uncertainties, designing targeted experiments, rapidly building new prototypes, defining and assessing fitness-for-use, and analyzing data to drive commercialization and scale up
  • Understanding and evaluating performance of relevant competitive product alternatives
  • Obtaining intellectual property protection (patents, trade secrets, etc.)
  • Partnering with technologists to advance product/materials fundamental understanding and advance vectors of product differentiation
  • Engaging externally with relevant customers and Aerospace standards committees to inform industry-relevant development needs
  • Continuously developing your engineering skills through formal training provided by Gore and coaching/mentoring provided by your leaders and teammates

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field with a minimum 3 years of experience in process, product, or new product/ materials development post-graduation
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Aerospace industry
  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of the Aerospace qualification process
  • Must be a U.S. Persons
  • Knowledge of experimental design and ability to apply statistics to drive data based decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Critically and creatively apply knowledge of engineering fundamentals to product development and challenging technical problems
    • Prioritize, plan, and drive multiple projects concurrently from development to completion
    • Effectively interact and influence cross-functional teams, as well as work independently
    • Work hands-on in all aspects of project work
    • Travel periodically (<10%)
  • Willingness to sign IP and Confidentiality agreements

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in Aerospace Product Development
  • Experience in Aerospace wire & cable or electronics
  • Strong understanding of cable/wiring Aerospace standards

This position requires access to export-controlled areas and information.
