About the organization:
Intel's Neuromorphic Computing Lab is pioneering a new domain of brain-inspired computer architecture defined by large parallel collections of neural processing units operating as sparsely active event-driven nonlinear dynamical systems. This technology promises orders of magnitude gains in efficiency and speed compared to conventional architectures for a large class of emerging intelligent computing workloads. While neuromorphic hardware architecture and algorithms have progressed rapidly over the past few years, the development of professional neuromorphic software tools, methods, and frameworks is still at a nascent stage.


About the role:

  • Works as an individual contributor to design, develop, execute and implement scientific research projects to fuel Intel's growth in the areas of computing, communication, technology and manufacturing and new business opportunities.

  • Develops machine learning algorithms, such as supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, Bayesian analysis, as well as neuromorphic and brain inspired methods to solve applied problems in various disciplines such as Cognitive Computing, Computer Vision, Audio, Natural Language Processing, Robotics, etc.

  • Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products typically 5+ years prior to landing on a product roadmap.

  • Plans and executes laboratory research.

  • Maintains substantial knowledge of stateoftheart principles and theories and contributes to scientific literature and conferences.

  • May participate in development of intellectual property.

  • May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts with universities.


You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must possess a PhD degree in Computational Neuroscience, Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in Python, Matlab, and OOP languages.

  • 3+ years of experience in Modeling spiking neural networks.

  • 1+ year of experience in developing algorithms in the domain of vector symbolic architectures or hyperdimensional computing.

  • Publication record that demonstrates a history of creative algorithmic innovation.
