The Datacenter Security and Systems Architecture (DSSA) group, a central pathfinding division within Intel's Datacenter and AI business unit, is seeking a Network Application and Architecture Engineer to join a small team of highly technical individuals tasked with innovating next-generation network architecture across Intel's hardware and software portfolio.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to impact AI strategy as well as host and network roadmaps.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identifying trends in the datacenter space (e.g., emergence of microservice model).
  • Determining key areas for acceleration (e.g., network transport optimizations).
  • Defining proof of concepts using a hardware cluster and/or network modeling (Fabsim-X) to demonstrate the degree of performance opportunity.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to define implementation and intercept with Intel product roadmaps.
  • Expanding Intel's patent portfolio as an inventor.
  • Contributing in the academic space by publishing papers.
  • Contributing to and aiding with maintenance of the Fabsim-X network simulator.

A successful candidate will have the following skills in addition to the qualifications listed below.

  • Experience in network application architecture and development including but not limited to microservices applications, AI (e.g., deep learning, HPC), and host network stack (e.g., gRPC).
  • Experience with network hardware (e.g., NIC, switching), the OSI model, and network transport and congestion control (e.g., TCP/IP, DCQCN/RoCEv2/RDMA).
  • Willing to work independently and explore a broad set of software and hardware domains.
  • Willing to distill broad requirements into concrete objectives to define and drive a work plan.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of C++, Python, OOP, Linux, shell scripting.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Master's in Computer/Software Engineering or equivalent
2+ years of experience in network application architecture/development.
3+ years of experience in C++, Python, Linux/shell scripting.

Preferred

5+ years experience in network application architecture and development.
PhD in Computer/Software Engineering or equivalent.
