Job Description

GTRIs Advanced Concepts Lab (ACL) provides innovative, tailored solutions to challenging problems for our customers. Our laboratory identifies and transitions advances in basic research for real-world applications, with particular emphasis on antennas, electromagnetics, counter-proliferation technologies, and integrated analysis of signals and systems. ACL possesses extensive capabilities for numerical modeling, experimentation, and characterization to prove new technologies and concepts.

ACL seeks highly motivated Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs) to perform modeling, simulation, and analysis activities. These activities will include both creating and exercising modeling tools that evaluate force-on-force simulations. The GRA will be required to generate software that models sensor, platform, or operational performance and then execute that software to analyze parametric performance of the modeled concept(s). This software may be smaller stand-alone routines written in either Python or Matlab or routines that are integrated into a larger software framework called AFSIM. The GRA will also be required to investigate and analyze technical approaches using the AFSIM framework.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Graduate Research Assistant

  • Pursuing an on-campus Masters degree or PhD at Georgia Tech in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or closely related field
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours) during working semesters
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must commit to 20 hours of work per week

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in 1 or more programming languages: C++, Python, and/or Matlab preferred
  • Strong coding, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
  • Familiarity with AFSIM framework
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to document and summarize research findings using presentation and prose formats
