GTRIs Signals and Systems Division (SASD) in the Advanced Concepts Laboratory seeks qualified candidates for the position of a Model-Based Systems Engineer. This position involves applying model-based systems engineering (MBSE) to challenging real-world problems related to national defense. SASD engages in research in advanced threat analysis, operational employment concepts, advanced EM spectrum management, test and evaluation, and knowledge management primarily through the application of modeling and simulation.
SASD research scientists work on a variety of tasks, varying from project to project and depending on the individual's skills and interests.
This person will serve as both a contributor and a technical lead on projects, often defining the systems engineering scope of work and how systems engineering will coordinate with more specialized engineering disciplines and operational considerations. The person in this role will apply MBSE languages and frameworks (e.g., SysML, DoDAF), modeling methods, and modeling tools (e.g., Cameo) to assist in the study of advanced defense systems and systems of systems. This person will collaborate extensively with operational and technical subject matter experts. The role will involve eliciting inputs for the models, constructing the models, and validating the models. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about learning the context of the problems they will be modeling and engaged in sharing their MBSE knowledge with the subject matter experts to support meaningful data elicitation and validation of models.
