Job Description

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) System Engineering Division (SEN) is currently seeking a Mobile Applications Software Developer for a full time research faculty position in the Advanced Human Integration Branch (AHIB). Looking for a skilled, hardworking software developer with a background in mobile (Android) applications development. The desired candidate must be a solid communicator who can work within a dynamic team environment to support design and development of complex, multi-faceted systems. The candidate must have knowledge of object-oriented design theory and experience in its application.

• Software development for mobile devices
• Developing mobile applications for the Android operating system
• Agile software development team contributor and/or leader

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical field.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

• A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree; or
• A Master’s degree and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree; or
• A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical field

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Expertise in Android development
• Strong grasp of object oriented design
• Ability to effectively work under pressure and time constraints
• Ability to self-motivate and derive specific requirements from general tasking descriptions
• Ability to work as part of a team on large, complex development efforts
• Ability to assimilate and apply new job-related information in a timely manner
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on Agile teams
• Experience interfacing with continuous integration/continuous delivery frameworks

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
