The Raytheon Missile and Defense (RMD) Mechanical Product Team (MPT) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment. The Mechanical Product Team uses state-of-the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon Six Sigma principles. RMD's Antenna Systems Department (ASD) provides conceptual development, design, documentation, prototyping, production and support for a wide range of antenna and radar products. We are seeking an energetic and motivated individual to fill a Mechanical Engineering position with concentration in thermal-fluid sciences for the Thermal-Fluid Design and Analysis Section. ASD is a department within the MPT, and the position will be located in Marlborough, MA, with some responsibility for engineering oversight and support in other MA locations.
The thermal-fluid design and analysis section within ASD is responsible for performing detailed thermal management and fluid flow analysis of Mechanical Systems. It also supports environmental testing along with testing required for development of new thermal technologies via Research & Development Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Planning and conducting thermal-fluid analysis of electronic, mechanical and electromechanical systems and interpreting thermal analysis results.
Providing technical guidance and direction for analytical tasks and thermal testing
Writing cost estimates for analysis activities
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
BS in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related Applied Sciences field and 4 years of engineering experience (MS degree and 2 years or Ph.D. with academic experience)
Four (4) years of experience in thermal analysis with experience in Finite Element modeling and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations.
Industry work experience with heat transfer and fluid flow
Past work experience with two or more of the following: electronics cooling, heat exchangers, fans, pumps, piping systems, thermal control techniques or refrigeration systems

Desired Education, Skills and Experience:
Advanced degree as mentioned above
Experience with application of thermal-fluid sciences to platforms for the defense industry, namely, RF devices, RF device packaging, cooling manifolds and flow distribution architectures
Finite Element simulation skills with one or more of the following tools: ANSYS, NASTRAN, COSMOS, SOLARIA
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations skills using one or more of the following tools: STAR CCM+, FLUENT, FLOTHERM, ICAPAK
Knowledge of CAD and CAD software: Pro/E CREO, SOLIDWORKS, SPACECLAIM
Working knowledge of materials and process specification is desirable
Strong written and oral communications skills, good presentation and technical writing skills
Interacts well with team members across various disciplines
