Our Mechanical Products Team leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar and other military equipment. The Mechanical Products Team uses state-of-the-art tools, processes technology and Six Sigma principles.
RMD Mechanical Products Team is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer in the Tactical Radars (TR) Department. The department supports Command and Control (C2), Battle Field Radar (BFR), and Naval Systems products within the RMD business both domestically and internationally. The TR Department provides mechanical and hardware systems engineering expertise and provides support across locations in CA, AZ, and MA. This position will be for the CA locations in Fullerton and San Diego.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Mechanical Design & Drafting section in the department providing technical lead as well as mechanical design. Position requires performing and collaboration within RMD on research, design, analysis, and development in such areas as mechanical systems, thermal systems, materials, test equipment, hardware processes, or manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities include:
Hardware Design Support Requirements based Drafting & Design using CAD tools, peer review engineering documentation, build/assembly support, and installation support
Perform research, design, analysis, and development in the areas of mechanical design and engineering.
Perform technical drafting services in support of engineering drawing releases
Ensure tasks and assignments adhere to company internal processes and procedures.
Follow and ensure compliance with RMD and Mechanical Engineering process initiatives
Execute RMD Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and TR department strategies and goals.
U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
BS in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related Applied Sciences field and 4 years of engineering experience (MS degree and 2 years or Ph.D. with academic experience)
Four (4) years of systems, software, hardware and/or mechanical engineering experience
Work experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool CREO, SolidWorks or Pro-E
Experience with Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Hardware Design, Assembly, Installation, Integration, and/or Test
US Citizenship
Desired Education, Skills and Experience:
Advanced degree as mentioned above
Experience with Radar, Command and Control, or Naval Systems product areas
Experience in routing/switching/system administration domain knowledge
Interest/ Experience with hands-on work; i.e. electronics packaging, HW assembly and deployment, field installation.
MS in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related Applied Sciences field
Strong analytical skills & excellent written and oral communication skills; knowledge of MS Office or other presentation tools
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at one time in a fast paced environment
Ability to work well in a team environment & effective interpersonal communication skills
