Georgia Tech Research Institutes's (GTRI) Trusted Microelectronics Program Office (TMPO) seeks a microelectronics or FPGA researcher and/or digital design engineer for a research group focused on the development of novel, cutting-edge capabilities in the area of microelectronics security and trust.
TMPO researches microelectronic applications, CAD tools, architectures, and materials to evaluate the security, trust, and reliability of microelectronic devices and the critical systems which rely upon them. TMPO develops tools and techniques in the areas of assurance, anti-tamper, and reliability for FPGAs, ASICs, SoCs, microcontrollers, and other microelectronics. TMPO employees are Research Faculty of Georgia Tech and have the opportunity for dual appointments and teaching positions with other departments of the university. TMPO is a division of GTRI's cybersecurity lab which contains 300+ engineers and scientists and represents >10% of the total research award funding at Georgia Tech.
Individuals in this position will be responsible for researching microelectronics system development methodologies that enhance the security and trust of new designs, developing analysis techniques that evaluate the security and trust of existing designs, studying emerging device architectures, and performing design and verification of complex and high-performance applications. Novel combinations of commercial, open-source, and custom tools will be used to implement security enhancements to standard FPGA/ASIC design, verification, and hardware testing practices. Innovative analysis techniques involving low-level (RTL and gate) design inspection, simulation, formal methods, and bench testing will be used to identify and characterize security concerns. Custom PCBs will be designed and utilized to evaluate various properties of microelectronics devices.
