Job Description

Assembly and Test Technology Development (ATTD) Metrology Engineer:

  • Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished material or product.
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment, conducts quality assurance tests, and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of, and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to quality control.
  • Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur.
  • Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgement.

This is an entry level position and compensation will be given accordingly.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.

Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum qualifications and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess a master's degree with 6+ months of experience or PhD with 1+ years of experience degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Must have the required degree or expect the required degree by March, 2022.

6+ months of experience (master's) or 1+ years of experience (PhD) with one or more of the following:

  • Programing coordinate measuring machines (CMM's) of both contact and non-contact variety
  • Statistics (cp and cpk)


Preferred Qualifications

6+ months of experience (master's) or 1+ years of experience (PhD) with one or more of the following:

  • ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (willingness to teach the material)
  • GEOMeasure, PC-DMIS, JMP, PolyWorks, SolidWorks
  • Analysis of Measurement Capability Analysis (GR and R) and Correlation (willingness to teach the subject to material suppliers and troubleshoot their issues)
  • Different brands if CMMs and their software (identify the cause of measurement differences in a correlation)
  • Teaching dimensioning and tolerancing
  • GDTP Senior level certification
  • Managing metrology qualification activities at a supplier's location
